Shaping Designers in Malaysia Since 2018
DesignPath Academy Sdn Bhd is committed to teaching practical graphic design skills to beginners across Kuala Lumpur and Penang. We focus on fundamentals that stick — layout, color, typography, and the tools that matter.
How DesignPath Academy Sdn Bhd Started
We’re not a huge corporate training center. We’re a small team that realized too many aspiring designers were stuck between YouTube tutorials and overwhelming bootcamps. So we built something different.
Started in a small Kuala Lumpur studio with three design professionals who’d seen firsthand how bad design education could be. We wanted to change that.
Opened our Penang location. By now we’d trained over 150 students. They weren’t just learning tools — they were learning to think like designers.
Launched our online resource library. Hundreds of guides covering layout fundamentals, color theory basics, typography essentials, and comparisons of design tools for beginners.
Today, we’re supporting over 800 designers at various stages. We’ve expanded our curriculum but kept our approach simple: teach what works, skip the fluff.
Core Competencies
Our courses focus on the fundamentals that make designers effective. These aren’t theoretical — they’re practical skills you’ll use from day one.
Color Theory
Understanding how colors interact, building palettes that work, and knowing why certain combinations create the right mood. We don’t teach it in isolation — color theory connects to everything you design.
Layout Fundamentals
Grid systems, composition, hierarchy, and whitespace. These principles work across print and digital. Learn them once, apply them everywhere.
Typography Basics
Choosing typefaces, pairing fonts, understanding kerning and leading. Typography can make or break a design. We’ll show you how to get it right.
Design Tools Mastery
Hands-on training in industry-standard software. Whether it’s Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or other tools, we’ll teach you the skills that matter for real projects.
How We Teach Design
Small class sizes, real projects, and feedback that actually helps you improve. That’s the DesignPath Academy Sdn Bhd difference.
We believe design education should feel like mentorship, not a lecture series. Our instructors aren’t just teaching concepts — they’re sharing what they’ve learned from years of real design work.
Every course includes live feedback on your projects. You’ll learn not just the “what” but the “why” behind design decisions. Why does this layout work? Why did we choose this color? These answers stick with you.
We keep groups small. Eight to twelve students per session means everyone gets attention. You’re not sitting in a lecture hall watching slides. You’re working alongside your instructor, asking questions, getting immediate feedback.
The curriculum is updated regularly. Design trends shift, tools evolve, and we stay current. But we don’t chase every trend — we focus on timeless principles paired with modern applications.
What Drives Us
Three principles guide everything at DesignPath Academy Sdn Bhd. They’re simple, but they shape how we teach and who we are.
Practical Over Theoretical
You won’t spend weeks learning history if it doesn’t help you design better. We teach what works. Theory matters when it connects to real results.
Accessibility Matters
Design education shouldn’t be expensive or exclusive. We’ve kept our courses affordable because we believe talented people shouldn’t be priced out of learning.
Community First
You’re not competing against classmates. You’re learning together. Designers grow when they share feedback, ask questions, and build connections with other creative people.
